FLORENCE, S.C. – The Armstrong Atlantic State softball squad split a pair of games on Friday evening in the 2007 FMU Patriot Invitational at Freedom Park. The Pirates knocked off Kutztown, 10-4, in the first game but dropped a 5-0 decision to Catawba in the second contest.

In the first game, the Pirates put up four-run frames in the second and fifth innings. Kari Marsico had two hits and drove in three runs, while Natalie Vogler also had two hits and drove in two runs. Courtney Tucker picked up the win in relief, hurling four innings and giving up just two runs while striking out two. In the second game, the Pirates were shut out for the first time this season and for the first time in 30 games, dating back to last season's 6-0 loss at GCSU on April 13.

The Pirates wrap up action in the FMU Patriot Invitational on Saturday with three games, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
