Sells Earns Pitcher Honors For Second Time, McCracken Named
Player of the Week
SAVANNAH, Ga. Junior outfielder Crystal McCracken and sophomore pitcher Annie Sells were named the Peach Belt Athletic Conference's Player and Pitcher of the Week for April 12 by conference officials on Wednesday afternoon.
Sells hurled a three-hit shutout, striking out 10, in a 1-0 win over No. 2-ranked Kennesaw State on Sunday, helping the Pirates to its first-ever doubleheader sweep of the. Sells, who was also the PBAC's Pitcher of the Week back on March 22, also hit a home run in the doubleheader and improved to 15-2 on the year with an 0.59 ERA. The Chattanooga, Tenn., native has ten shutouts on the year and has struck out 187 batters in 117.2 innings pitched.
McCracken hit .500 on the week, including her PBAC-leading 12th home run in the Pirates' 8-5 win over Kennesaw State on Sunday in the second game of the Pirates' doubleheader. The Lithonia, Ga., native is hitting .317 on the season with a team-best 40 RBI and is the second Pirate to win Player of the Week honors this year Annie Sells was the PBAC's Player of the Week on March 8.
The Lady Pirates, now ranked No. 3 in the nation in the latest NFCA Division II Top 25 poll, travel to Valdosta State on Thursday, April 15 for a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader.
