Annie Sells Named PBC Pitcher of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Senior Annie Sells was named the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week by conference officials on Monday afternoon, the fourth time the Pirates' ace has earned the honor this season.

The Chattanooga, Tenn., native went 4-0 with an 0.39 ERA in four games this week. She hurled her 13th career no-hitter - and fifth of the season - on Saturday against Lander, won both games of last Monday's doubleheader against Augusta State and then pitched a two-hit shutout over No. 23-ranked USC Spartaburg on Sunday. Sells allowed just four hits and one run in 18 innings pitched, while striking out 24 batters. The righthander currently leads the nation in strikeouts, averaging 10.3 whiffs per seven innings.

Sells also earned the PBC Pitcher of the Week honor in three straight weeks from March 5 through March 19 and overall, the fourth-year senior has been the PBC Pitcher of the Week an amazing 10 times.

The No. 6-ranked Lady Pirates will be next in action on Wednesday, April 17, at Georgia College & State University for a 1:00 p.m. Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against the Bobcats.
