AASU's McDaniel Named South Atlantic Region Softball Coach of the Year

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Armstrong Atlantic State head softball coach Marty McDaniel was named the Speedline Division II South Atlantic Region Coach of the Year by the NFCA on Thursday afternoon.

McDaniel, who was also tabbed the Peach Belt Athletic Conference's Coach of the Year, led the Pirates to a 51-7 record, a No. 1 ranking in the NFCA Division II Top 25 poll and a PBAC Co-Championship. AASU just completed its third season of competition in varsity fastpitch softball.

In three years, McDaniel has compiled a 118-39 overall record for the Pirates. AASU finished the season ranked No. 8 and was the South Atlantic Region runner-up to Kennesaw State.

McDaniel joins eight others who were named region coaches of the year. The NFCA National Coaching Staff of the Year for Division II will be announced on June 21.
