Golopencza, Kratochvilova Head To ITA Small College National Championships
SAVANNAH, Ga. The Armstrong Atlantic State women's tennis program will be well represented in this week's ITA Small College National Championships as sophomore Zsofi Golopencza and senior Michaela Kratochvilova travel to Collin County Community College in McKinney, Texas, to begin play on Thursday.
Golopencza is the No. 1 seed in the Division II singles draw and will face Adrienn Hegedus of BYU-Hawaii in the opening round. Kratochvilova will also be competing in the singles draw, taking the place of Carina Kaempfer of Northwood, who had to withdraw from the tournament because of injury. Kratochvilova is slated to face the No. 2-seeded Monika Mastalirova of Lynn University.
In doubles action, Golopencza and Kratochvilova are the No. 2 seeded duo in the Division II doubles draw and will face the duo of Abbie Sweitzer and Kate Opilo from Millersville at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Play continues through Saturday in the Division II draws and the winners of the singles and doubles draws will then compete in the Super Bowl, pitting the winners of each of the draws - Division II, III, NAIA and Junior College - on Sunday.
