Women's Tennis: No. 2 AASU 6, No. 9 Rollins 3

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The No. 2-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State women's tennis team defeated the No. 9-ranked Rollins Tars, 6-3, in women's college tennis action in Winter Park, Fla., on Saturday afternoon.

In a match of top 10 players, No. 2-ranked Zsofi Golopencza knocked off No. 10-ranked Vanessa Caddick, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles for the Pirates. Laura Peaty, Caroline Grage and Gemma Vaughan also picked up singles wins for AASU, while No. 36-ranked Carla Prieto knocked off AASU's No. 34-ranked Manuela Emmrich, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 2 singles.

In doubles, the Pirates won two of three matches, including the No. 23 duo of Grage and Peaty knocking off Soffes and Nichols, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles. The No. 6-ranked duo of Golopencza and Emmrich lost at No. 1 doubles to No. 4-ranked Caddick and Prieto, 8-5.

The Lady Pirates are next in action on Friday, February 21, at Columbus State at 1:00 p.m.
