Men's Tennis: No. 9 Francis Marion 6, No. 19 AASU 3
Women's Tennis: No. 5 Armstrong Atlantic State 9, No. 31 Francis Marion 0

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 5-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State women's tennis team remained perfect on the 2002 season with a 9-0 blanking of No. 31-ranked Francis Marion. The No. 9-ranked Francis Marion men defeated the No. 19-ranked AASU men, 6-3, to earn a dual match split with the Pirates.

The Lady Pirates swept all three doubles matches, then picked up straight-set singles victories to get the win. No. 1-ranked DII singles player Zsofi Golopencza was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Francis Marion's Ana Carias, 6-0, 6-0, at the top singles flight.

The FMU men won two of three doubles matches, then picked up four singles victories to record the win. Mark Bube won the No. 1 singles duel against the Pirates' Roger Thiele, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) to pace the Patriots.

Both AASU tennis squads return to action on Monday, February 18 as they host Augusta State in PBC action beginning at 2:00 p.m.
