SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Armstrong Atlantic State tennis squads picked up a Peach Belt Conference dual match sweep of visiting USC Aiken on Sunday afternoon at the AASU Tennis Complex. The Lady Pirates remained unbeaten on the season with a 9-0 win over the Lady Pacers, while the Pirate men struggled, but picked up a 5-4 win over the Pacers.
The Pirate men, who just ascended to No. 2 in the latest ITA Division II Top 40 men's tennis rankings on Friday, dropped two of three doubles matches, but won four of six singles matches to pick up the victory. AASU dominated at singles spots three through four as Christian Bergh, Taavo Roos, Robert Jendelund and Henrik Lilja all won in straight sets.
On the women’s side, the Lady Pirates stretched their regular season match-win streak to 81 with the 9-0 win over the Lady Pacers. AASU swept all three doubles matches, then won all six singles matches in straight sets.
The Pirates host a doubleheader on Monday as the AASU women host Lees-McRae and Clayton State, while the men host Rollins and Lees-McRae.
