SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State men’s tennis team picked up two wins on Wednesday afternoon knocking off Anderson, 9-0, and Kutztown, 7-2, while the Lady Pirates extended their perfect start to the season with an 8-1 win over No. 24 Lindsey Wilson.

The No. 2-ranked Pirates (14-1) won all three doubles matches from the Trojans, then picked up wins at all six singles spots. Paul Bishop had to go three sets to defeat AC’s Andrei Weisskopf, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, but the Pirates won the other five singles matches in straight sets. Against Kutztown, the Pirates dropped two of three doubles matches, but rebounded to win all six singles matches.

The No. 2-ranked Lady Pirates (17-0) faced NAIA foe Linsdsey Wilson and won two of three doubles matches, then swept all six singles matches in straight sets. Top-ranked Iuliia Stupak defeated NAIA’s No. 3 Candela Castanon, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1 singles to pace the Lady Pirates, who stretched their regular season match win streak to 84.

Both AASU tennis teams return to action on Monday, March 19, hosting NAIA foe Freed Hardeman at 2:00 p.m. at the AASU Tennis Complex.
