Men's Tennis: No. 1 Drury 7, No. 9 AASU 2
WINTER PARK, Fla. The top-ranked Drury mens tennis team remained undefeated on the 2003 season with a 7-2 victory over No. 9-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State in Winter Park, Fla., on Wednesday afternoon, on the campus of Rollins College.
The Pirates got off to a good start as the No. 3-ranked doubles duo of Achim Roth and Dale White defeated the No. 4-ranked doubles duo of Jeremy Blandin and Regnier Azevedo, 8-5, at #1 doubles. Drury picked up the other two doubles wins, however, and went on to win five of six singles matches to improve to 10-0 on the year. AASU fell to 7-2.
The Pirates only singles win came at No. 4 singles as Achim Roth defeated Mattias Oddone, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, to give AASU its other point.
The Pirates are next in action on Thursday, March 20, as they travel to No. 23-ranked Florida Gulf Coast in Ft. Myers, Fla., for a 2:00 p.m. match.
