FT. MYERS, Fla. - The No. 3-ranked Armstrong Atlantic men's tennis squad halted its two-match slide with a 6-3 win over No. 12 Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday afternoon in Ft. Myers, Fla., while the No. 2-ranked women blanked No. 10 Florida Gulf Coast, 9-0, to extend its regular season match win streak to 86.

The Pirates (15-3) won two of three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. Robert Jendelund and Christian Bergh defeated Brenton Bacon and Alex Gjesten, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles, while Taavo Roos and reigning PBC Player of the Week Davor Zink defeated Danny Lee and Mikkel Muller, 9-7, at No. 2 doubles.

The Pirates then won four of six singles matches, paced by Paul Bishop's 6-1, 7-6 (3) win over Alberto Gutierrez at No. 2 singles. Bergh, Roos and Jendelund also picked up singles wins for the Pirates.

Meanwhile, the No. 2-ranked Lady Pirates swept all three doubles matches, then won all six singles matches in straight sets. Reigning PBC Player of the Week Johanna Dahlback picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Maria Maggiorini at No. 1 singles, while Dziyana Nazaruk, Gabriella Kovacs, Sofia Haggstrom, Alisa Kakugina and Martina Beckmann also picked up straight set singles wins.

The Pirate men return to action on March 31 at the White Sands Invitational in Pensacola, Fla., where they will face UC San Diego and West Alabama.
