Men's Tennis: No. 14 Lander 6, No. 9 AASU 3

SAVANNAH, Ga. – No. 14-ranked Lander defeated an undermanned Armstrong Atlantic State men’s tennis team, 6-3, in Peach Belt Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the AASU Tennix Complex.

The Pirates were without sophomore Achim Roth, who was suffering from food poisoning, and won just one of three doubles matches and two of six singles matches against the Senators. Roger Thiele teamed with Dale White to defeat the Lander team of Emil Olsson and Tobias Edstrom, 9-7, at No. 1 doubles.

Thiele then picked up a singles win at No. 1 singles against Fredrik Hoglund, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, and David Secker defeated Edstrom, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 3 singles. The loss was the fourth straight for the Pirates, who fell to 7-5 on the season. Lander improved to 7-2.

The Pirates are next in action at the White Sands Invitational in Pensacola, Fla., from April 3-5.
