SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Armstrong Atlantic State tennis squads defeated Columbus State in Peach Belt Conference action on Sunday afternoon. The Pirate men defeated Columbus State, 8-1, while the women blanked the Cougars, 9-0. The AASU men also picked up a 9-0 win over Division III foe Averett on Sunday morning.

The No. 7-ranked Pirate men won all three doubles matches, then picked up six singles wins against the Cougars. Paul Bishop cruised past Guillermo Echevarria, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Against Averett, the Pirates dropped only one set in singles in the win.

On the women’s side, the Lady Pirates dominated the PBC co-champions from last season, dropping just five games in doubles and winning all six singles matches. Iuliia Stupak led the way at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 whitewashing of Raluca Moldovan.

The Pirate tennis teams return to action on Tuesday, March 6, with a Peach Belt Conference dual match at GCSU at 2:00 p.m.
