SAVANNAH, Ga. No. 11-ranked Armstrong Atlantic
State dismantled No. 22-ranked Abilene Christian, 8-1, in
collegiate men's tennis action at the AASU Tennis Complex on
Wednesday afternoon.
The Pirates swept all three doubles matches against the wildcats, then won five of six singles matches in improving to 9-1 on the season, with the only loss coming to top-ranked and defending DII champion West Florida. Abilene Christian, which entered their three-game Georgia swing undefeated against DII foes, now has lost two straight after losing at Valdosta State, 7-2, on Tuesday.
The top-ranked doubles duo of Robert Jendelund and Dale White knocked off Evan Puglia and Jason Ray at No. 1 doubles, then Jendelund defeated Ray at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Peter Dedik, Davor Zink, Jeremy Mastnak and David Secker also picked up singles wins for the Pirates.
AASU returns to action on March 14 as the Pirates
host Rollins College at 11:00 a.m.
