Women's Tennis: No. 5 AASU 5, USC Spartanburg 0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The No. 14-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State men's tennis squad advanced to the Peach Belt Conference semifinals with a first-round 5-0 win over No. 18-ranked Francis Marion on Thursday afternoon in Jacksonville, Fla, while the No. 5-ranked AASU women's team also advanced with a 5-0 win over USC Spartanburg.

The Pirate men swept all three doubles matches, then won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles to advance to Friday's match against the winner of USC Spartanburg/GC&SU match.

David Secker defeated FMU's Llewellyn King, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, while Dale White defeated FMU's Kevin Taylor, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3 singles to clinch the match.

The women won all three doubles as well, then got singles wins from Zsofi Golopencza and Gemma Vaughan to clinch the match. AASU will face host North Florida in a semifinal match on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
