Mens Tennis: No. 7 Barry 6, No. 16

SAVANNAH, Ga. The No. 7-ranked Barry
University mens tennis team sent the host and No. 16-ranked
Armstrong Atlantic State Pirates to their third straight loss
with a 6-3 decision at the AASU Tennis Complex on Friday
afternoon.
The Pirates managed just one win in the three doubles matches as David Secker and Dale White defeated Dirk Benninghaus and Victor Rodriguez, 8-6. Achim Roth and Tim Offermann lost a close match at No. 1 doubles, 8-6, to Thomas Hipp and Gerold Wiring, while Peter Dedik and Roger Thiele also lost, 8-6, to Filip Norman and Sebastian Losavio at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Barry won four of six singles matches to clinch the match. AASUs Achim Roth, ranked No. 20 in Division II singles, defeated No. 10-ranked Thomas Hipp, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 1 singles. AASUs only other singles point came at No. 6 singles where freshman Taavo Roos defeated Filip Norman, 5-7, 6-2, (10-5).
The AASU men will be next in action at Rollins College on April 10. AASUs womens team will play an exhibition tomorrow against Loughborough University of England at 3:00 p.m.
