VALDOSTA, Ga. – The AASU tennis squads split a dual match at Valdosta State on Saturday afternoon. The No. 2-ranked Lady Pirates finished the 2004 regular season undefeated with a 9-0 win over No. 8 VSU, while the No. 15-ranked men dropped an 8-1 decision to the No. 4-ranked Blazers.

The AASU women will head into the NCAA Regionals with a perfect 24-0 record after the 9-0 win on Saturday. AASU won all three doubles matches, then won all six singles matches in straight sets. Top-ranked Zsofi Golopencza dispatched No. 17-ranked Eva Petschnig, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, while No. 10-ranked Luisa Cowper defeated Natalie Biro, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 2 singles. Caroline Grage, Manuela Emmrich, Laura Peaty and Kristen Kelly also picked up singles wins for the Pirates.

In the men's match, David Secker picked up AASU's only point with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Norman Wiedle at No. 6 singles.

The AASU men wrap up the 2004 regular season with a 11:00 a.m. match against No. 12 Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday morning at the AASU Tennis Courts.
