AASU Tennis Teams Earn NCAA Regional Berths

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 8-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State women's tennis team has earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships and will host one of five South Regionals at the AASU Tennis Complex on May 4-5. The No. 4-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State men's tennis team also earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championships and will travel to the University of West Florida to compete in one of six South Regionals on May 5-6. Both fields were announced today by the NCAA National Office.

Both AASU tennis teams have a streak of six consecutive seasons advancing to the NCAA National Championships, to be held in Pensacola, Fla., from May 10-13.

The AASU women's team will face Clark Atlanta in their first-round Region match on Friday, May 4. The winner of that match will face the winner of Kennesaw State and Harding (Ark.) in the region championship match on Saturday, May 5, where the winner will earn a berth at the National Championships.

The AASU men's team has a tougher road as it will travel to West Florida and face Delta State (Miss.) in a first-round region match on Saturday, May 5. The winner will then have to face Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) in the region championship match on Sunday, May 6, for a berth at the National Championships.
