AASU Women's Tennis Earns NCAA Regional Berth

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 6-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State women's tennis team has earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships and will compete at the South regional at the University of North Florida on May 5-6.

The Lady Pirates, who have made it to the NCAA Finals each of the past five seasons, will face the University of North Alabama in the first round of the regional at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 5. The winner of the first-round match will face the host University of North Florida in a 10:30 a.m. regional championship match on Saturday, May 6, with the winner earning a berth in the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis National Championships in Pensacola, Fla., on May 11-14.

AASU and No. 7-ranked North Florida have split two meetings this season, with AASU winning 6-3 on March 31 in the regular season, but UNF taking a 5-0 win on April 16 in the Peach Belt Athletic Conference Tournament Championship match. AASU and North Alabama did not meet this season.

The No. 3-ranked Pirate men's team will learn its NCAA Regional fate on Monday, May 1, as the NCAA selection committee awaits results of the Gulf South Conference tennis tournament, taking place this weekend.
