SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Armstrong Atlantic State tennis squads swept a dual match from visiting Valdosta State on Saturday afternoon at the AASU Tennis Complex.

The No. 9-ranked Pirates, achingly close to a win over a top 10-ranked team this season, finally came through with a 6-3 win over No. 2-ranked Valdosta State. AASU had been 0-5 against top-10 ranked clubs, losing 5-4 in three of those matches and 6-3 in the other two. The Pirates swept all three doubles matches from the Blazers, then split the six singles matches to pick up the victory. Robert Jendelund and Dale White got a huge doubles win over No. 4-ranked Eduardo Rincon and Philipp Laucht, 8-6, at the top singles slot.

The AASU women improved to a perfect 20-0 with the 6-3 victory over the No. 8-ranked Lady Blazers. The Lady Pirates won two of three doubles matches, then picked up wins in four of the six singles matches. Dziyana Nazaruk, playing at No. 1 singles for the Pirates, picked up a solid win over No. 5-ranked Eva Petschnig, 7-5, 7-5, while Johanna Dahlback blitzed No. 37-ranked Anne Corten, 6-1, 6-3.

AASU returns to action on Sunday afternoon as the Pirates travel to North Florida for a 2:00 p.m. match with the Ospreys.
