AASU Men's Tennis To Host NCAA Regional
SAVANNAH, Ga. The No. 3-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State men's tennis will host South Regional action this week on May 5-6, with an opportunity to advance to the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis National Championships.
Columbus State University will face Lincoln Memorial University in the first round of the regional at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5. The winner of the first-round match will face Armstrong Atlantic State in a 11:00 a.m. regional championship match on Saturday, May 6, with the winner earning a berth in the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis National Championships in Pensacola, Fla., on May 11-14.
AASU has not faced Lincoln Memorial this year, but has beaten Columbus State twice this season, 7-1 in the regular season and 5-3 in the PBAC Tournament semifinals. Last season, AASU advanced to the NCAA semifinals and finished fourth in the nation for the second time in school history.
The women's team will compete in South Regional action at the University of North Florida on the same dates. AASU has had both teams advance to the National Championships for each of the past five seasons.
