AASU Tennis Teams Stay In Top Five In ITA/Division II Rankings
SAVANNAH, Ga. The Armstrong Atlantic State men's and women's tennis teams remained in the top five in the ITA/Division II National Rankings released this week by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The men's tennis team remained at No. 4, behind Lander, West Florida and Florida Southern. The Pirates lost to West Florida, 6-3, earlier this season and defeated Florida Southern, 8-1, on Friday, March 10, after the current ranking information had been compiled. AASU is 11-2 on the season and in the middle of a three-match California trip. The Pirates will play No. 1-rated Lander on April 1 at the AASU Tennis Complex.
The women's team slipped from its fall ranking of No. 3 to No. 5, coming in behind BYU-Hawaii, Lynn, Barry and West Florida. The Lady Pirates were edged by both Lynn and West Florida by 5-4 scores earlier this season but are 10-4 on the season and undefeated in PBAC play this year, including an 8-1 win over then-No. 5 Georgia College & State.
Both men's and women's tennis teams will be next in action at home against the University of North Florida in a key PBAC matchup on March 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the AASU Tennis Complex.
