MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University volleyball team (13-8) earned their third win in a row with a 3-0 win over the visiting Armstrong Atlantic State Pirates (15-8) earlier tonight at the Health & Sports Center. The Buccaneers won all three sets 30-24, 30-25, 30-14.

After a short delay, Samara de Freitas (So., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Nicole Castera (Jr., Sao Paulo, Brazil) pounded out six kills piece to lead Barry past the Pirates 30-24. Michele Rosamiglia (Sr., Sao Paulo, Brazil) guided Barry to a blistering .520 attack percentage in game two and a .467 team percentage in the third set which led to 30-15 and 30-14 wins respectively.

Kelly Dantas (Sr., Sao Paulo, Brazil) led the Buccaneers with 13 kills and hit a .579 clip in the match, while Castera added 12 kills behind a .400 attack percentage. De Freitas was the Bucs’ most consistent hitter collected 11 kills and hit a .846 clip. Rosamiglia guided Barry to a .382 team percentage and dished out 44 assists, while Spenser Rigg (Fr., Honolulu, Hawai’i) and Jentry Redinger (Jr., Scottsdale, Ariz.) collected 17 and 13 digs respectively.

Traci Knuth led the Pirates with seven kills and nine digs, while Margaret Thornton dished out a team-high 13 assists.

The Buccaneers will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 18 in Saint Leo, Fla. to take on the Lions in a key Sunshine State Conference match-up.
