College Volleyball: AASU 3, UNC Pembroke 0

PEMBROKE, N.C. – Lauren Good tallied 11 kills, while Traci Knuth added 10 to lead Armstrong Atlantic to a 3-0 shut out over UNC Pembroke Saturday afternoon in Peach Belt volleyball action. With the win, AASU improves to 11-10 overall and 7-1 in league play as UNCP falls to 9-16 and 2-5 in conference action.

Armstrong dominated the match with game scores of 30-20, 30-15 and 30-19. Leading the Pirates’ offensive charge were Good and Knuth. Knuth also added seven total blocks, while Leah Schmiedge recorded six. Setter Stacy Yates posted 27 assists as Margaret Thornton contributed 19.

As a team, AASU recorded 50 kills on 95 attempts for a hitting percentage of .505. It's only the third time in school history that AASU has recorded a hitting percentage of .500 or better in a single match.

Kelly Parker led the Braves with eight kills, with Sarah Harrison and Takeyia Perkins each tallying six. Rebekah Niesborella led the defense with 10 digs.

UNCP will remain at home as they host Francis Marion on Wednesday, October 26 at 7 pm in the Jones, while AASU is slated to travel to Florida Southern on October 25 barring any postponements due to Hurricane Wilma.
