AASU Volleyball Defeats Valdosta State, 3-1

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Armstrong Atlantic State volleyball team defeated Valdosta State, 3-1, in a non-conference match on Wednesday evening. Game scores were: 30-25, 30-25, 16-30, 30-13.

The Pirates (12-6) got 14 kills and seven blocks from junior Sarah Haynes and 12 kills and 13 digs from freshman Ashley Lavender in the victory, AASU's second over the Blazers (8-13) this season. Junior Erin Melius added 36 assists, while Valdosta State was led by Suzy Watson's 13 kills, 15 digs and seven blocks. Anna Einarsdottir added 36 assists and 17 digs for the Blazers.

AASU next hosts Francis Marion University in a Peach Belt Conference match on Friday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Aquatics & Recreation Center (ARC). Valdosta State will host Gulf South Conference rival Lincoln Memorial on Friday, October 5 at 6:00 p.m.
