College Volleyball: No. 21 AASU 3, Flagler 0
SAVANNAH, Ga. Sophomore Rindy
Vidovich and the No. 21-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State
volleyball squad got back on the winning track with a 30-21,
30-21, 30-25 victory over Flagler College in the Pirates
2005 home opener.
Vidovich collected a game-high 11 kills in 20 attempts without an error for a career-high .550 hitting percentage in leading AASU (3-2) to the victory. The Pirates also got eight kills apiece from Leah Schmiedge and Adriana Miller, while Christina Flores led all players defensively with 17 digs. Margaret Thornton tallied 21 assists to lead the Pirates as well.
Flagler College (2-1) hit just .117 in the match and was led by Shelly Jenciks nine kills and Carrie Arnettes 20 assists. The Saints had four players register double figures in digs, led by libero Lizzie Gomez 13 digs and Liz Moyers 12 digs.
AASU recorded 10 blocks as a team, compared to
the Saints three, and the Pirates tallied 10 service aces,
reaching double digits in service aces for the second time this
season.
The Pirates return to action on Thursday, September 1, as AASU
faces Winona State at 7:00 p.m. in the Lewis University Flyer
Invitational in Romeoville, Ill. The Saints are next in action at
the Daytona Beach Blast on Friday, September 2.
