Women's College Basketball: AASU 85, Lenoir-Rhyne 81

SAVANNAH, Ga. Armstrong Atlantic State shot 63 percent from the field in the second half, erasing a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat Lenoir-Rhyne, 85-81, on Tuesday evening.

AASU (2-0) trailed the Bears at the break, 36-26, but opened up the second half on a 20-5 run en route to a 59-point half - a school record for the most points scored in a half by the Lady Pirates. Twice previously, AASU has reached 58 points in a half - on Jan. 23, 1988, against Columbia College and on Feb. 13, 1999, against USC Aiken.

Juniors Nicole Hornage and Tana Griffiths each poured in 19 points, while Jasmine Herron chipped in 14 points. AASU outrebounded the Bears, 47-36, and the win was the first for the Lady Pirates over LRC in Hickory, N.C., and the second straight in the series. AASU returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 2:00 p.m. against No. 18-ranked Shaw.
