Women's College Basketball: AASU 73, Morris 52

SUMTER, S.C. - Junior Audosha Kelley poured in 20 points and sophomore Sarah Brown collected a career-high 11 points in leading the Armstrong Atlantic State women’s basketball squad to a 73-52 win over host Morris College on Tuesday evening in Sumter, S.C.

The Lady Pirates (3-2) won their second straight game by jumping out to a 43-27 halftime lead and holding on for the victory. Kelley hit 6-of-7 shots from the floor and 7-of-9 shots from the free throw line for her 20 points, while Brown – a 5’4 guard from Richmond Hill – nailed 4-of-5 shots from the floor, including 3-of-4 from three-point range, for her 11 points. Her previous high of five points in a game had been reached twice earlier this year.

AASU held the Hornets to just 32.8 percent shooting from the floor and outrebounded Morris, 46-35. Morris College placed three players in double figures on the evening, led by Timico Gibson’s 15 points. Amii Rogers added 12 points and Loren Matlock chipped in 11 points.

The Lady Pirates next travel to St. Petersburg, Fla., for the 2004 Neader Group Classic hosted by Eckerd. The Pirates will take on Florida Southern at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26
