Women's Basketball: No. 11 AASU 75, Morris College 59

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The No. 11-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State women’s basketball squad withstood a second-half charge by Morris College and defeated the Lady Hornets, 75-59, on Tuesday evening at Alumni Arena.

The Lady Pirates (2-1) raced out to a 33-10 lead with 7:40 remaining in the first half, and cruised to a 15-point halftime lead, 38-23, behind 10 first-half points from sophomore Alicia Durham. Morris (2-7) rallied in the second half, however, to cut the lead to just five points, 62-57, with 2:34 left in the ballgame. AASU then went on a 8-0 run to take control of the game and come away with the victory.

Durham enjoyed a career night for the Lady Pirates, registering her first double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while hitting 8-of-12 shots from the floor. Senior Tasha Washington added 18 points and senior Vandy Noldon chipped in 13 points for AASU, while the Lady Hornets placed three players in double figures, led by Latoya Singleton’s 16 points. Nadia Taylor registered a double-double as well for Morris, scoring 11 points and collecting a game-high 13 rebounds.

AASU will be next in action on Saturday, November 29, as the Lady Pirates travel to Valdosta State for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with the Lady Blazers.
