Women's College Basketball: Valdosta State 74, AASU 58

VALDOSTA, Ga. Valdosta State (4-0) shot a torrid 65 percent in the first half, building a 45-23 lead and went on to a 74-58 victory over Armstrong Atlantic State (2-2) here Saturday.
Courtney Parker scored all 11 of her points and grabbed seven of her eight rebounds in the first half. Her back-to-back buckets started a 15-0 Lady Blazer run to end the first half after the Lady Pirates had fought back from a 21-2 deficit to 30-23 with 3:47 left before intermission. Armstrong Atlantic State closed the gap to 63-50 with 5:36 left in the game but could get no closer.
Candice Ferrell led VSU with 14 points, followed by Amber Daniels with 12, and Parker and Danielle Hernandez with 11 each as the Lady Blazers shot 53 percent from the field. Tasha Washington led the Lady Pirates with 25, and Vandy Noldon had 14. AASU shot only 28 percent in the first half but made 13 of 30 shots after intermission to finish at 36 percent for the game.
AASU is next in action on Wednesday, December 3, against Rollins at 7:00 p.m.
