Women's College Basketball: GCSU 79, AASU 71
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. Armstrong Atlantic State shot just 34.8 percent from the field in suffering a 79-71 loss at GCSU on Wednesday evening, halting the Lady Pirates' two game win streak.
The Lady Bobcats used a 14-0 run late in the first half, erasing a 21-14 AASU lead and going into halftime with a 32-27 lead at intermission. The Lady Pirates tied the score three times early in the second half, but could not regain the lead, and GCSU held on for the eight point victory.
Marquita Driskell led all players with 29 points and 14 rebounds for GCSU, while Tana Griffiths led the Lady Pirates with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor, including 5-of-9 three-pointers. Jasmine Herron added 12 points, while Lacey Willis chipped in 11 points off the bench and Nicole Hornage added 10.
AASU returns to action on Saturday, February 20, as the Lady Pirates host USC Upstate at 2:00 p.m. AASU will honor its four seniors - Ashley Mason, Sarah Brown, Jennifer Anderson and Emily Perpich - before the game.
