Men’s Basketball (2-1 Overall, 0-0 Peach Belt Conference)
The Armstrong Atlantic State men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, dropping a two-point 72-70 decision at West Georgia.
AASU shot 59 percent in the second half, including 5-of-10 three-pointers, but West Georgia shot 60 percent after intermission to hold off the Pirates. Senior Patrick Sanou notched a career high with 28 points, while junior Parker Hayden also notched a career-high with 14 points.
The Pirates will open up its home and league schedule on Wednesday against North Georgia, then travel to USC Aiken on Saturday to face the Pacers.
Women’s Basketball (3-1 Overall, 0-0 Peach Belt Conference)
The AASU women's basketball squad traveled to California for two games and turned in a perfect 2-0 trip, defeating Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Los Angeles.
Senior Kaneetha Gordon collected 15 points and junior Alandris Griffin notched her first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the Pirates' 66-59 win over Cal Poly Pomona on Tuesday.
On Saturday, it was Lindsey Holmes' 15 points on 5-of-8 three-point shooting that helped the Pirates pick up a 66-60 win over the Golden Eagles.
Gordon collected 19 rebounds on AASU's two-game road trip, moving into fifth place all-time in PBC history with 883 rebounds, passing Jennifer Lance (UNC Pembroke, 1998-02).
AASU will open up its home and league schedule on Wednesday against North Georgia, then visit USC Aiken on Saturday in this week's action.
