The Pirate men's basketball enjoyed a successful home (and television) debut with a thrilling 77-75 win over Valdosta State on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

AASU led the Blazers by one at halftime, behind Robert Campbell's 10 first-half points, then stretched its lead to nine points, leading 67-58 with just under eight minutes remaining. A 9-2 VSU run over the next four minutes cut the lead to two, and a Jason Dangerfield jumper with 3:31 remaining gave the Blazers a one-point lead.

The Pirates regained the lead on two David Koncul free throws with one minute remaining and AASU forced missed shots from Marcus Williams and an offensive foul by Darnell Brown to seal the victory. Koncul led the Pirates with a game-high 16 points while Campbell added 14 points, seven assists and six steals.
