Men's Basketball (3-3 Overall, 1-1 Peach Belt)

The Armstrong Atlantic State men's basketball team picked up two wins on the week to even its record to 3-3 on the season.

The Pirates hosted cross-town rival Savannah State on Tuesday and kept the Tigers winless on the season with the 68-52 victory. Junior Dave Pisarcik scored a game-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor, while senior Willard Winn recorded his second consecutive double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Pirates beat Savannah State for the third consecutive time. Senior point guard Donta Humphries added eight assists and seven rebounds.

On Saturday, the Pirates hosted Claflin and beat the Panthers, 83-63, in a non-conference matchup. Junior Lamarr Chears led the Pirates with his first double-double of the year, coming off of the bench to record 18 points and 12 rebounds. Juniors Dave Pisarcik and Jason Sanders each chipped in 16 points, while senior Mick Jordan pumped in 12 points.

The Pirates travel across town to face Savannah State in their only action this week on Monday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Women's Basketball (2-5 Overall, 1-1 Peach Belt)

The Lady Pirates won their only game of the week, recording their second straight victory with a 69-48 win over cross-town rival Savannah State on Tuesday.

Junior sisters Shanetra and Shaletra Hodge led the Lady Pirates against the Lady Tigers with 19 and 14 points, respectively, in the win. Junior Zandrique Cason added 12 points and nine rebounds as AASU won its sixth game out of the last seven against Savannah State.

The Lady Pirates travel across town to face Savannah State in their only action of the week on Monday, December 10 at 5:30 p.m.
