Women’s Basketball (9-4 Overall, 0-0 Peach Belt Conference)
The Armstrong Atlantic State women’s basketball team saw its six-game winning streak end on Tuesday with a 68-64 loss at Florida Tech.

Florida Tech jumped out to a 7-2 lead on the visiting Lady Pirates and shot well in the first half, draining 15-of-30 shots from the field (50 percent) to take a 35-29 lead at intermission. Senior Ramona Wright tallied 10 points in the first half to lead AASU.

The Pirates cut it to two, 51-49, on two Audosha Kelley free throws with 8:09 remaining in the second half, but the Panthers went on a 14-5 run over the next five and a half minutes to take a 65-56 lead. AASU had a last attempt at extending its win streak as Audosha Kelley drained a shot with 11.9 seconds remaining to chip the lead to just three, 67-64, but Jennifer Tamilio hit one of two free throws to stretch the lead back out to four and a last-desperation three by Abei Irowa with one second remaining hit off the rim. The win was the third straight for Florida Tech.

Audosha Kelley led the Pirates with 16 points, while Wright chipped in 12 points. Jennifer Tamilio led the way for Florida Tech with 13 points, while Danielle Quinn and Ty-Anna Carvano each added 10 points.

The Lady Pirates will return to action on Thursday, December 30, as they visit Fayetteville State in Fayetteville, N.C., for a 7:00 p.m. game.

Men’s Basketball (7-3 Overall, 0-0 Peach Belt Conference)
The Armstrong Atlantic State men's basketball team picked up its first road victory of the season with a 69-59 win over host Florida Tech at the Clemente Center in Melbourne, Fla., on Tuesday evening.

The Pirates (7-3) took a 10-point lead early in the first half, 27-17, but two free throws from Ryan Maultsby with 2:01 remaining until hafltime tied up the score at 27-all. A Bryan Taylor baseline jumper put the Pirates up by two going into halftime, 29-27. Alex Carter paced the Pirates in the first half with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor, including 2-of-4 three-pointers.

The second half saw the Pirates extend their halftime lead to double figures with a Jamaal Galloway three-pointer with 5:25 remaining that made the score 61-49. The Pirates then hit six free throws in the final three minutes to seal the victory. Carter led all scorers with 23 points on the evening, while sophomore Bryan Taylor added 18 points and nine rebounds while Lorenzo Lawrence chipped in 14 points. Titas Vainauskas led the Panthers (5-4) with 16 points.

AASU returns home to face Wingate University at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30 at Alumni Arena.
