College Soccer: AASU 4, Georgia Southwestern State 0

AMERICUS, Ga. – Armstrong Atlantic held Peach Belt Conference foe Georgia Southwestern without a shot in picking up a 4-0 victory over the Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon in Americus, Ga.

The Pirates (13-3, 6-1 PBC) racked up 39 shots of their own in shutting out their second consecutive opponent and recording their sixth shutout of the season. AASU picked up two goals in the first half, one by freshman Amaka Ofuani in the 17th minute and one by freshman Ginny Child in the 18th minute, to take a 2-0 lead into intermission.

In the second half, sophomore Jennifer Brian delivered her second goal of the season in the 52nd minute, then sophomore Maggie Kennedy notched her first collegiate goal in the 74th minute.

Tarra Kohler and Samantha Held each played a scoreless half in goal for the Pirates, while Georgia Southwestern goalkeeper Trina Sorensen made 10 saves in goal for the Hurricanes (3-9, 1-8 PBC). AASU returns to action on Wednesday as the Pirates visit UNC Pembroke for a 7:00 p.m. showdown with the Braves.
