College Soccer: AASU 4, Erskine 0

DUE WEST, S.C. (August 31) – Sophomore Kristin Burton tallied two goals, while Kristin Savoy and Brittany Carr each found the back of the net in Armstrong Atlantic's 4-0 win over Erskine on Friday evening in Due West, S.C.

The Pirates (1-1) outshot the Flying Fleet, 21-2, in picking up its first win of the season. Sisters Lyndsi and Lianne Stricklen each tallied and assist and all three AASU goalkeepers - Tarra Kohler, Samantha Held and Tracey Mitchell - combined on the shutout.

Burton tallied her first two goals of the season just more than four minutes apart in the first half, taking a pass from Alyssa Anderson in the 16th minute to score her first tally, then in the 20th minute, beating Erskine goalkeeper Si'Ara Washington to give the Pirates a 2-0 advantage.

Savoy picked up her first goal of the season in the 36th minute to give AASU a 3-0 lead at the break. Brittany Carr accounted for the only scoring in the second half with her goal in the 58th minute, her first goal for the Pirates after transferring to AASU from West Georgia.

The Pirates return to action on Sunday, September 2, as they open up their home season against Flagler at 5:00 p.m.
