CHARLOTTE, N.C. (September 27) – The No. 8-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State women's soccer squad got two first-half goals from sophomore Kristin Burton to earn a 2-0 victory over Queens University of Charlotte on Thursday evening.

The Pirates (6-1-1, 2-0-1 PBC) took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute as junior Jamie Craine won a ball in midfield, then sent Burton a through ball into the box which the sophomore All-American slotted past Queens keeper Kristin Kornacki on the right side. Just six minutes later, junior Shana Neves headed a goal kick from Kornacki back into the box, which Burton then put in the back of the net for her second goal of the match and a 2-0 lead.

From that point Queens (3-7-1) took charge of the action in the first half, going into halftime with a 6-4 shot lead. The Pirates took charge in the second half, outshooting the Royals, 9-4, to preserve the victory and extend AASU's unbeaten streak to seven.

Burton collected her 10th career multi-goal match and senior keeper Tarra Kohler recorded two saves in picking up the shutout win. Kornacki had a busy night, recording seven saves for the Royals.

AASU returns to action on Saturday, September 29, as the Pirates host PBC foe GCSU at 3:30 p.m. at AT&T Field.
