Men’s Tennis: No. 1 AASU 9, No. 28 USC Aiken 2

AIKEN, S.C. – The nation’s best women’s tennis program, Armstrong Atlantic State (2-0, 2-0 PBC) swept through USC Aiken (2-1, 0-1 PBC) 9-0 Sunday afternoon. The 2005 National Champions proved why they are the nations best as they took all nine games from the Lady Pacers. USC Aiken was able to get as many as two points in four games but couldn’t over come the dominant Lady Pirates.

Number four singles Elly Toth posted the best Lady Pacer score posting 6-2, 6-2 in being defeated by Sofia Haggstrom. Nicole Copp and Mayra Kaefer each posted one point in each of their games in their defeat by Dziyanon Nazaruk and Manuela Emmrich.

The Lady Pirates’ Haggstrom/Kelly and Dahlback/Nazaruls defeated Bastos/Copp and Cannic/Toth 8-2. Number one doubles Cowper/Stupack defeated the Lady Pacers’ Kaefer/Cassetori 8-1.

USC Aiken will host Clayton State Friday, February 10, at 2 p.m. The Lady Pirates will travel to Rollins Saturday, February 11, to play at 1:00 p.m.
