PBC Women's Tennis: AASU 5, North Florida 0

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The No. 2-ranked and undefeated Armstrong Atlantic State women’s tennis team defeated North Florida, 5-0, to advance to the finals of the 2004 Peach Belt Conference Championships on Friday afternoon.

Four-time PBC Player of the Year Zsofi Golopencza teamed with Laura Peaty to defeat Liliana Hung and Julie Stoppelli, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles, while Manuela Emmrich and Caroline Grage defeated Camila Sagae and Melody Le Goff, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles. Luisa Cowper and Kristen Kelly completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win over Melanie Eng and Yevgeniya Barysheva.

Golopencza then defeated Sagae, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles and Emmrich defeated Le Goff, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles to clinch the match.

AASU (22-0) now face No. 3-seeded Columbus State University in the PBC Championship match at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
