Women's Tennis: No. 2 AASU 8, Clayton College & State 1

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 2-ranked AASU women's tennis team returned to PBC play and downed visiting Clayton College & State University, 8-1, at the AASU Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Pirates won two of three doubles matches against the Lady Lakers. Manuela Emmrich and Caroline Grage defeated Daniela Petkova and Velina Boteva at No. 2 doubles, 8-1, while Dziyana Nazaruk and Johanna Dahlback defeated Katrin Gutknecht and Elena Bondari, 8-1, at No. 3 doubles.

AASU then swept all six singles matches. Luisa Cowper, ranked No. 4 in singles in DII, knocked off No. 9 Julia Ganda at the top singles spot, 6-2, 6-3. Nazaruk, Dahlback, Sofia Haggstrom and Kristen Kelly also picked up singles wins.

The Lady Pirates return to action on Wednesday, April 6, as AASU hosts Kennesaw State at 10:00 a.m.
