2006 NCAA DII National Championships, Quarterfinals: No. 1 AASU 5, No. 24 Drury 0
KANSAS CITY, Mo. Top-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State continued its journey towards a berth in the National Championship match with a 5-0 win over No. 24-ranked Drury in the quarterfinals of the 2006 NCAA DII Women's Tennis Championships at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Mo.
The Lady Pirates (29-0) won their 59th consecutive match by taking all three doubles matches, then getting singles wins from Iuliia Stupak and Dziyana Nazaruk at No. 2 and No. 3 singles to clinch the match. Stupak defeated Mouna Sabri, 6-0, 6-2, while Nazaruk defeated Maria Amato, 6-2, 6-1, to help AASU win its eighth straight match without giving up a point.
AASU will now face No. 4-ranked Lynn University in the national semifinals at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The Lady Pirates knocked off the Knights, 7-2, in an earlier matchup this season. Lynn knocked off Tarleton State to advance to the national semifinals.
