SAVANNAH, Ga. – Winthrop University defeated host Armstrong Atlantic State in men's and women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Pirate Tennis Complex.

The Winthrop men won on J.P. Rezende's decisive three-set singles win over AASU's Nickolay Nesterov, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (8-6). The singles victory gave Winthrop the 5-4 win. Winthrop's women defeated AASU with two doubles wins and victories at the 4-6 single spots, highlighted by Thais Freitas' win at No. 4 singles over Marie-Claude Ostiguy, 6-4, 6-3.

AASU returns to action on Feb. 9 as the Lady Pirates travel to Flagler to face the Lady Saints.
