Janelle Torres begins her second season as assistant coach for the Armstrong Atlantic State volleyball squad.

Torres joined the Pirate program in 2000 from the University of New Mexico, where she started all four years at setter. At the UCONN Husky Classic on Sept. 24-25, 1999, she became New Mexico's all-time assist leader, breaking Alicia Bergmann's school mark of 3,283 with her 111 assists in the tournament. She finished her playing career with 3,794 assists.

A two-time All-State player and former 3AAAA Player of the Year at St. Pius HS, Torres hails from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has five siblings. She is the daughter of Anna Marie and Elizar Torres and enjoys working out, reading and cooking.

Torres graduated in 2000 from the University of New Mexico with a degree in communications and is pursuing her master's degree at AASU in public health.
