Lady Pirates Finish Sixth At J. Ralph Hargett Invitational
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 1) The Armstrong Atlantic State women's golf team shot a final-round 353 to finish sixth at the J. Ralph Hargett Invitational, hosted by Wingate University, on Tuesday afternoon at the par 72, 5810-yard Olde Sycamore Golf Club course in Charlote, N.C.
Belmont Abbey shot the day's best round with a 309 and breezed to the team title, finishing with a two-day 643 total, 42 strokes ahead of host Wingate (685). Tusculum (707), Newberry (711) and Anderson (715) rounded out the top five, while the Lady Pirates finished just one stroke behind Anderson for sixth with a 716 total.
Senior Kristen Graham carded an 86 on Tuesday to lead the Lady Pirates individually with a 174 total, tying for 13th individually. Senior Katherine Hooks had Tuesday's best round for the Lady Pirates with an 83, finishing in 18th place with a 176 total. Freshman Kristen Jelinek fired a second-round 90 to tie for 22nd place individually with a 178 total. Freshman Carrie George shot a second straight 94 to finish in 40th place with a 188 total, while junior Alexandra Normal rounded out AASU's scoring with a 95, finishing tied for 52nd with a 197 total.
